CATERING MANAGER - JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to the General Manager
Must have previous experience in catering or a managerial administrative/customer role
Restaurant experience preferred
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar role
Quickly respond to catering requests via Gather and keep up with correspondence
Negotiate contracts, assess clients’ requirements, and ensure they’re satisfied with services
Ability to maintain a steady weekly catering flow without overwhelming and exhausting staff
Must determine which catering requests to deny and accept
Ensure catering orders are delivered on time
Plan food and beverage menus by considering clients’ preferences and special requests
Schedule staff shifts for deliveries and wait staff
Train and manage wait staff and kitchen personnel on catering needs and expectations
Keep and update weekly/monthly catering schedule and share with the Kitchen Manager
Seek new clients and maintain relationships with former ones
Report on expenses, budget, and total weekly/monthly catering earnings to General Manager
Maintain financial and administrative records
Oversee food prep and customer service
Arrange food tastings with potential clients
Ability to de-escalate any issues and make quick decisions
Have great communication, time management, and organizational skills
Maintain and keep file of invoices
Report to and set up catered events in a timely manner to ensure it goes smoothly
Maintain inventory levels and order new supplies when needed
Work with the chef Zweli to curate and update seasonal catering menus
Connect with the Graphics Designer to update menus and create catering-specific graphics and printouts
Email time-sensitive “thank you” coupons once a catering is completed to encourage repeat clients
Ability to retain and secure confidential client information
Reach out to former catering clients monthly to solicit new business
Obtain food vendor presence at off-site events/festivals
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
